  3. Nice one. The extract sounds like [ɘˈləðə] (the stress mark is relative, lə is more prominent). You're right, from there to "a look at the" has to be top down. This is maximum reduction, the focal accent is on "papers". Listening to the complete phrase I even hear a glottal stop, [ɘˈlʊkəʔðə], for which there's no obvious evidence in the extract. That could be my own creation too, like the k.
